Biography

Ganz [ganc] Moritz, *13 September 1806 Mainz, †22 January 1868 Berlin, Adolf’s brother, German cellist, and composer. He was the first cellist of the court orchestra in Mainz, led by his brother Adolf. He was the first cellist of the royal band in Berlin from 1826. He gave concerts in Paris, London. He wrote many works for cello and virtuoso duets for cello and violin, which he performed with his brother Leopold. They performed together (for example in 1827, 1830) in Poznań.
