Biography

Neuhaus, Nejgauz, Stanisław, *21 March 1927 Moscow, †24 January 1980 Moscow, Russian pianist and pedagogue, son of Henryk. He studied piano at the Moscow Conservatory under V. Belov and with his father Henryk, with whom he performed in a duet. From 1957, he worked as a pedagogue in the Moscow Conservatory, and from 1975 as a professor. A respected interpreter of the music of Chopin and Scriabin, he also had in his repertoire the works of W.A. Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Liszt, Brahms, Debussy, Ravel, Rachmaninoff, and Prokofiev. His students were, e.g., V. Krajnev and R. Lupu.
