Sonnleithner, Christoph
Sonnleithner, Sonnleitner Ignaz von, *30 July 1770 Vienna, †27 November 1831 Vienna, Austrian lawyer and amateur singer, son of Christoph. From 1814, he was a professor at the University of Vienna. He participated in many amateur concerts, performing bass parts. In 1815–24, together with his son Leopold, he organised regular musical evenings in his home, during which a wide repertoire of ancient and contemporary works was presented; during these concerts, the public premiere of several Schubert songs took place (including Erlkönig, Das Dörfchen).
