Biography

Rezler-Niesiołowska Magdalena, *27 October 1946 Bydgoszcz, violinist and teacher, daughter of Arnold, wife of conductor M. Niesiołowski. In 1970, she graduated with honours from the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw in the class of T. Wroński and S. Kawalla. She is a laureate of international violin competitions: Queen Elizabeth of Belgium in Brussels (11th prize, 1971), 5th Biennial in Bordeaux (silver medal, 1972), M. Long and J. Thibaud in Paris (5th prize, 1975), C. Flesch in London (5th prize and audience award, 1976). While still a student, in 1968, she founded the Royal Łazienki Quartet, also known as The Rezler Quartet (other members: M. Słubicka-Podejko, M. Bugajski, J. Andrzejczak), operating until 1984. She was the concertmaster of the National Philharmonic Chamber Musicians founded in the 1960s and directed by K. Teutsch. She has performed throughout Europe, Japan, Mongolia, South Korea and the USA as a soloist and chamber musician. She also worked as a teacher, leading a violin class at the Academy of Music in Warsaw. In 1991, she settled in Freiburg im Breisgau and until 2013, she was a professor at the local Hochschule für Musik. She collaborated with the Freiburger Barock Solisten band. In 2013, together with the cellist A. Billet and the pianist A. Kortel, she founded Trio Manaz, with which she gave concerts in Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Poland. She has conducted master classes in Austria, Japan, South Korea, Poland, the USA and Italy. She sat on the jury of numerous competitions. Currently, he cooperates with the Skrzypce Foundation. T. Wroński, teaching the violin class during international courses organised by the Foundation twice a year. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has made numerous radio, television and CD recordings. Awarded the “Gloria Artis” medal for services to Polish culture (2012) and the Golden Cross of Merit (2016).
