Patti, Salvatore
Patti Carlotta, married name de Munck, *30 October 1835 Florence, †27 June 1889 Paris, Italian singer (soprano) and teacher, daughter of Salvatore and Caterina. She studied piano at first under H. Herz in Paris and later decided to embark on a singing career. She made her debut in New York in 1861, but after a few stage performances she devoted herself exclusively to concert activity. She has performed on the American continent and in Europe. She gained particular acclaim for her performances in England (from 1863), especially at concerts at Covent Garden and the Philharmonic Society in London. After she stopped performing, she settled in Paris and became active as a singing teacher.
