Patti Salvatore, *1800 Catania, †21 August 1869 Paris, Italian singer (tenor). He appeared on the stage of the Teatro Carolino in Palermo from 1825, where he sang, among other roles, the part of Ishmael during the premiere of the opera Alahor di Granata by G. Donizetti (7 January 1826). He performed in Donizetti’s operas, as Ugo in Parisina in Rome in 1836, and as Tamas in Gemma di Vergy in Naples in 1837. In 1844, he went to New York, where he devoted himself to organising and directing Italian opera productions at the F. Palm theatre and, from 1847, at the Astor Place Opera House. His wife, Caterina Barilli, née Chiesa, secondo voto Patti (†6 September 1870, Rome), an Italian singer (soprano), also took part in these performances. She had appeared before in Italian and Spanish opera houses, including her role as Eleanora in the world premiere of G. Donizetti’s L’assedio di Calais (Teatro di San Carlo, Naples, 19 November 1836).
