Biography and Literature

Niewczyk Benedykt, *4 March 1960 Poznań, Polish luthier, son and student of Stefan, with whom he runs a luthier’s workshop in Poznań. Certified physicist and acoustician and expert witness, graduate of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Niewczyk is co-working with the Division of Speech, Music and Hearing of KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He combines his interests in lutherie with research on violin acoustics. Co-author (jointly with E.V. Jansson and L. Fryden) of more than a dozen scientific papers, including Timbre and Properties of a Violin, in: Proceedings of the Stockholm Music Acoustics Conference 1993 (Stockholm 1994) and On the Body Resonance C3 and Violin Construction, “Catgut Acoustical Society Journal” Vol. 3 (1997).
