Niewczyk Stanisław, *26 September 1890 Poznań, †26 July 1969 Poznań, Polish luthier and wind instrument maker, son and student of Franciszek. He worked with his father in Lviv until 1922. From December 1922, he ran a luthier’s workshop and an instrument maker’s shop in Bydgoszcz, and from 1927 also a wind instrument maker’s shop, which was relocated to Poznań in 1935. He was master craftsman from 1925, and grandmaster craftsman from 1945 until around 1966. Niewczyk was founder and member of the Stowarzyszenie Polskich Artystów Lutników. He presented his instruments at the at Wystawa Wodna (Bydgoszcz, 1927, silver medal), Polish National Exhibition in Poznań (1929, grand silver medal), Exhibition of Musical Instruments in Poznań (1949), Poznań International Fair (1949, 1950, 1957, gold medals), exhibition “Skrzypce w Polsce” (Poznań, 1952), exhibition “Polskie Instrumenty Muzyczne” (Warsaw, 1966). He built 120 violins, several violas, and cellos, several hundred guitars and mandolins, lutes, balalaikas, banduras, zithers, and a diatonic harp. He mainly based his instrument making on two models: those by A. Stradivari and G. Guarneri del Gesù. He educated many students. He was awarded the bronze medal of the Minister of Industry and Trade (1929), the gold medal of the Izba Rzemieślnicza in Poznań (1949), the gold medal of Związek Izb Rzemieślniczych (1950), the SPAL Diploma, and the gold Cross of Merit.
