Biography

Nevada Mignon, *14 August 1886 Paris, †25 June 1971 Long Melford, English singer (soprano), daughter of Emma. She was educated by her mother, from whom she inherited the coloratura soprano. She made her debut in 1908 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome as Rosina in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. In 1910–22, she sang in Covent Garden; she made her debut there as Ophelia in Hamlet by A. Thomas, conducted by Th. Beecham. She performed successfully on many stages in Europe, including La Scala in Milan (1923), the Opéra-Comique (1920, in the role of Lakmé in the opera by L. Delibes and Mimi in Puccini’s La bohème) and the Opera in Paris (1932).
