Biography

Hataš, Hatasch, Hattasch, Hatass, Jindřich Krištoph, Heinrich Christoph, *1756 Gotha, †probably 1808 Hamburg, Czech violinist and composer, the son of Dismas and Anna Františka.

Hataš’s teachers were probably his father and his uncle, J.A. Benda. He first belonged to the ducal band in Gotha; in 1778 he became a violinist in F.L. Schröder’s theatre orchestra in Hamburg. He composed three Singspiels: Der Barbier von Bagdad after 1780 (lost), Der erliche Schweizer (excerpts published in Hamburg in 1790) and Helva und Zeline in 1795 (excerpts published in Hamburg in 1796).
