Biography

Goossens Marie Henriette, *11 August 1894 London, †18 December 1991 Dorking, daughter of Eugéne II, English harpist of Belgian origin. She studied at the Royal College of Music in London. She made her debut in 1910 at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and was a principal harpist of the Covent Garden Orchestra, then Queen’s Hall Orchestra (1920–30), London Philharmonic Orchestra (1932–39), London Symphony Orchestra (1940–59) and London Mozart Players (from 1972). In 1954–67, she was a professor at the Royal College of Music. She made many recordings for the BBC.
