Labia, Maria
Labia Fausta, *3 April 1870 Verona, †16 October 1935 Rome, Italian singer (soprano) and teacher. She learned singing under her mother Cecilia, an amateur singer. In 1892, she made her debut in Verona in Meyerbeer’s opera Robert the Devil (the role of Alice). She performed on opera stages in Stockholm (1893–95), Lisbon (1895–96), La Scala in Milan (after 1896), Teatro Costanzi in Rome (1901) and Barcelona (1904–05). After retiring from the stage (Buenos Aires 1912), she taught singing in Rome. She is the author of L’arte del respiro nella recitazione e nel canto (1936).
