Gasparini, Francesco
Gasparini Michelangelo, *ca. 1670 Lucca, †ca. 1732 Venice, Italian singer (contralto), composer and teacher, probably the brother of Francesco Gasparini. He was presumably a pupil of G. Legrenzi and A. Lotti in Venice; there he founded a singing school, which was attended by F. Bordoni, among others. He composed five or six operas, all of which have been lost. The following works have survived in manuscript form: the oratorio Santa Vittoria, several cantatas and excerpts from operas.
