Tarnowski Antoni, *6 January 1822 Warsaw, †6 February 1887 Warsaw, twin brother of Aleksander, Polish dancer. He was a dancer since ca. 1842, a soloist in 1843–49 and the first ballet dancer of the Warsaw Theatre Directorate since 1850; he was also given parts previously performed by his brother Aleksander since 1856. In 1866, he had an accident during a performance and was forced to end his career. In 1868, he became a teacher at the ballet school of the Warsaw Theatre Directorate. Multi-talented, he gained fame as a performer of character parts requiring comedy talent and parody skills, and as an excellent stage partner of, among others, C. Grisi (1853) and N. Bogdanov (1859 and 1866), who performed as guests in Warsaw.
