Biography and literature

Neusidler, Newsidler, Neusiedler, Conrad, baptized on 13 February 1541 in Nuremberg, †after 1603 in Augsburg, German composer, lutenist, son of Hans. In 1562, he settled in Augsburg, where he remained until the end of his life. Manuscripts from Donaueschingen (ref. no. G.I.4) contain two of his motet intabulations, in Hainhofer’s Tablature (manuscript, Wolfenbüttel) there are two intradas and 14 arrangements of Protestant songs, and in the manuscript supplement to R. Wyssenbach’s print (Tabulaturbuch, 1550, copy in the Jagiellonian Library, formerly Berlin, Staatsbibliothek Preussischer Kulturbesitz, ref. no. Mus. ant. pract. W 510) 3 other such arrangements, two 2-part dances and intabulations of 2 chansons.
