Gonet Tadeusz, *30 January 1903 Jarosław, †26 January 1977 Krakow, Polish violist, violinist and teacher. In 1923 he graduated from the State Conservatory of Music in Poznań in the violin class of Z. Jahnke. In the years 1921–23 he performed as second violin in the Polish Quartet. In 1924–27 he studied with L. Capet in Paris, and in 1928 with O. Ševčík in Prague. At the same time, he began teaching; in 1927–29 he worked in Paris, where he was a member of the Association of Young Polish Musicians, then taught at the conservatory in Poznań (1929–30), Kraków (1930–33) and Lviv (1933–39). From 1945 he worked in Kraków: in 1945–57 he was violist in the Kraków Quartet, and in 1955–70 concertmaster of the Philharmonic, taught at PŚSM (State Secondary Music School) and PLM (State Music High School), and collaborated with PWM Edition. For PWM Edition he prepared a number of instructional works – transcriptions of violin literature for viola (études by R. Kreutzer and J.F. Mazas, two volumes of Baroque, Classical and Romantic miniatures, concertos by J.S. Bach, sonatas by Händel) and a textbook Scales, Arpeggios and Double Stops for Viola. In 1961–70 he taught viola at the State Higher School of Music in Wrocław. He gave concerts in Poland and abroad. He made many archival radio recordings.
