Ferrabosco, Alfonso (II)

Ferrabosco Alfonso (II), *między 1572 a 1578 Londyn (?), pogrzeb. 11 III 1628 Greenwich, syn Alfonsa (I), wiolista, śpiewak i kompozytor. Od 1592 działał na dworze angielskim; początkowo jako instrumentalista, przez pewien czas nauczyciel muzyki ks. Henryka, a po jego śmierci (1612) ks. Karola, późniejszego króla Karola I; w 1626 otrzymał tytuł composer in ordinary by the king.

Pierwszy z druków Alfonsa (II) zawiera 21 pieśni solowych (w tym 2 trzyczęściowe) i 3 dialogi; wiele z nich pochodzi z jego masques. Są to utwory pokrewne pieśniom J. Dowlanda i jego naśladowców. Duże znaczenie mają utwory kameralne Alfonsa (II), które wraz z analogicznymi utworami Coopera, Dowlanda i innych stanowią zjawisko charakterystyczne dla muzyki angielskiej.
