Elschek, Oskár
Elscheková–Stankovičová Alica, *21 November 1930 Bratislava, wife of Oskár Elschek, a Slovak ethnomusicologist. Between 1949 and 1953, she studied musicology and history at the University of Bratislava, and in 1974 she was awarded a doctorate. Until 1954, she taught singing at a conservatory. Since 1953, she has worked at the Institute of Musicology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. She developed a system for analysing and classifying folk music using digital machines; her research included, amongst other things, collections from southern Poland.
