Degani, Eugenio (EN)

Biography and Literature

Degani Eugenio, *4 April 1842 Montagnana, † 22 May 1901 Venice, Italian luthier. He was the son and apprentice of the luthier Domnic Degani (1820–1887), who ran a workshop in Montagnana, with whom he later collaborated. After completing his internship in Trieste, he founded his own studio in Venice. The most famous representative of the family, he built instruments according to 18th-century models and his own model, giving them a very individual stamp. He taught violin making to his nephew Giovanni Schwarz (†20 November 1953, Venice), who later collaborated with him.
