Tcherepnin Serge, Sergei Aleksandrovich, *2 February 1941 Paris, A. Tcherepnin’s son, American composer. He studied composition in Paris with his father and N. Boulanger, then from 1958 to 1963 at Harvard University with B.J. Layton and L. Kirchner, and after returning to Europe with H. Eimert, K. Stockhausen, L. Nono, and P. Boulez. In the years 1968–70, he was head of the electronic music studio at New York University, and since 1970 he has lectured in composition and electronic music at the Valencia School of Music (California); at the same time, as the owner of the Serge Modular company, he has been engaged in the design of electronic instruments.
