Biography

Bassi Luigi, *4 September 1766 Pesaro, †13 September 1825 Dresden, Italian Singer (baritone). Between 1784 and 1806, he was affiliated with the Italian Theatre in Prague, where in 1787 he performed the title role in Don Giovanni, written for him by Mozart. He performed in Italy, France, Poland (in Warsaw), and elsewhere. Between 1806 and 1814, he stayed in Vienna, remaining in the service of Prince J.F. von Lobkowitz. He then returned to Prague, where he was a director of opera performances. Between 1815 and 1825, he held this position in Dresden.
