Biography

Barenboim Daniel, *15 November 1942 Buenos Aires, Israeli pianist and conductor. He studied under E. Fischer, N. Boulanger and I. Markevitch; and graduated from the Accademia di S. Cecilia in Rome in 1957. He has toured extensively in Europe, the USA, Japan, Australia and South America, performing with the New Philharmonia Orchestra (with O. Klemperer), the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Wiener Philharmoniker and the Berliner Philharmoniker. He is particularly highly regarded as an interpreter of the works of the Viennese classics; he has made a number of recordings, including Beethoven’s cycle of sonatas and piano concertos and Mozart’s piano concertos and late symphonies.
