Balbi Giovan Battista, known as Il Tasquino, *early 17th century, †after 1654, Italian dancer, choreographer and stage designer. He probably came from Venice and spent most of his life there. He choreographed F. Manelli’s opera Andromeda, performed at the opening of the San Cassiano Theatre (1637) in Venice. Between 1645 and 1651, he stayed in Paris, where he choreographed, among other things, the ballet interlude for the opera La finta pazza (music by F.P Sacrati, 1645). After 1651, he worked in Venice.
