Biography

Ambroziak Delfina, *21 March 1939 Równe, Polish Singer (soprano). In 1962, she finished vocal studies with G. Orłow at the Academy of Music in Łódź. In the same year, she won the first prize in the singing category at the 11th ARD International Music Competition in Munich. In 1962, she debuted at the Grand Theatre in Łódź as Lakme in Delibes’ opera. She was associated with this theatre until 1998. Her main roles include Violetta in Traviata, Countess in The Marriage of Figaro, Ännchen in Der Freischütz, The Marschallin in The Knight of the Rose, Mimi in La bohème, Micaëla in Carmen, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Gilda in Rigoletto, Hanna in The Haunted Manor, Princess Eudoxie in La Juive. She performed as a guest opera and stage singer in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Mexico, West Germany, Romania, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy and the USSR. She took part in the world premieres of oratorio works by K. Penderecki, H.M. Górecki and W. Kilar. In 1988–2010, she taught a singing class at the Academy of Music in Łódź, and from 1992 as a professor.
