Presentation of the Polish Music Library portal at the Polish Institute in Rome conference entitled „Music e Memoria: 1945-2025. Tra reminiscenze nuove prospettive” („Music and Memory: 1945-2025. Between Reminiscence and New Perspectives”).
Conference at the Polish Institute in Rome

The conference, organized by the Polish Institute in Rome to mark the 80th anniversary of the ending of World War II, was held on 21-23 November 2025 at the Institute’s headquarters. It was addressed both to musicologists and music theorists working in the field of contemporary music, as well as to institutions in the publishing and promotion of music in Poland. The event also aimed to encourage reflection on the relationship between music and the wartime experience. During the conference, representatives of PWM delivered a paper entitled: „The Role of PWM in the Development of Polish Musical Culture in the 2nd Half of the 20th Century”.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to present PWM’s work, with emphasis on the Polish Music Library, and to promote the Publisher’s wide cultural and digitization offer – including the key objectives of its digitization project – to a broad group of specialists. The presentation outlined the main components of the PBM portal, namely the Encyclopedia, Ikonoteka and the sheet music collection. It also explained how to access and use the website’s resources.
