Röntgen, Engelbert (EN)

Biography

Röntgen Engelbert, *30 September 1829 Deventer, †12 December 1897 Leipzig, Dutch violinist, and teacher. He studied under F. David and M. Hauptmann at the Leipzig Conservatory from 1848 to 1853. From 1853, he was a violinist in the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, and from 1873, he served as concertmaster. He taught at the conservatory there from 1869. He published Einiges zur Theorie und Praxis in musikalischen Dingen (“Vierteljahrsschrift für Musikwissenschaft” IX, 1893).
