Biography

Neuhaus, Nejgauz, Gustaw, Gustav, Wilhelmowicz, *10 May 1847 Calcar (district Cleves), †between 21 August and 30 October 1938 Kirovo (now Kropyvnytskyi), Russian pianist and teacher of German origin. His family originated in the Rhineland, from where Gustav Neuhaus came to Odessa in 1870, then settled in Elizavetgrad (now Kropyvnytskyi), where he taught piano at the well-known music school founded by M. Blumenfeld in southern Russia. He married the pianist Olga née Blumenfeld, niece of Feliks Szymanowski, grandfather of Karol Szymanowski.
