Biography and Literature

Kiejcher, Kecher, Kejeher, Keycher, Kicher, Kicker Krzysztof, 16th/17th century, Polish court organist and organ builder, Bartłomiej’s son (not father, as some sources say). He probably studied organ playing in Rome. Around 1590, he worked as an organist at the royal court in Kraków. He took over his father’s workshop for repairing and manufacturing musical instruments. He built regals and positive organs. He also repaired organs at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. S. Starowolski attributes to him the authorship of an unknown instrument, but it was probably a type of harpsichord imported from Italy.
