Niewczyk Stefan, *7 August 1925 Bydgoszcz, †11 March 2007 Poznań, Polish luthier, son and student of Stanisław, with whom he practised from 1939 and whose studio in Poznan he took over in 1954. He was a master craftsman from 1948, was also a member and founder of the Stowarzyszenie Polskich Artystów Lutników. He built more than 160 violins, 10 violas and 2 cellos, mainly in the stylistic convention of A. Stradivari and G. Guarneri del Gesù. He used spirit and oil varnishes in various shades. His instruments won second place at an exhibition and competition at the Museum of Musical Instruments in Poznań (1949) and a distinction at the 1st Henryk Wieniawski Violin Making Competition in Warsaw (1955).
