Biography

Majewska Alicja, *30th May 1948 Wrocław, Polish singer. Graduate of the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy at the University of Warsaw. She studied singing with Prof. O. Łada. She made her debut in 1966 in Zielona Góra at the 2nd Soviet Song Festival where she was among the award winners. In 1971–74, she performed with the vocal group Partita, led by A. Kopff. In 1975, she performed at the Targówek Theatre in Warsaw. Majewska is known for performing simple, melodic songs, composed mainly by W. Korcz. She has performed many times at the Polish Song Festival in Opole: in 1975 – 1st prize (Bywają takie dni, music by J. Derfel, lyrics by I. Iredyński), in 1980 – 2nd prize (Jeszcze się tam żagiel bieli, music by W. Korcz, lyrics by W. Młynarski), in 1987 – 2nd prize (Marsz samotnych kobiet, music by W. Korcz, lyrics by W. Młynarski), in 1989 – special award; in 1980, she won the Grand Prix at the festival in Rostock. Majewska has recorded for Polskie Nagrania and Sony Music, including the albums: Jeszcze się tam żagiel bieli. The Best of (1994), Odkryjemy miłość nieznaną (2005), Świat w kolorze nadziei (1997), Wszystko może się stać (2016).
