Biography

Kątski Stanisław, *8 October 1820 Krakow, †?, Polish pianist and composer, son of Grzegorz. He was a student of his brother Anthony. He only performed in public as a “child prodigy” and later settled in Paris, where he worked as a piano teacher. He composed a number of piano miniatures in the salon style, among others, nocturnes, waltzes, mazurkas, Grande caprice B minor Op. 13, fantasies, variations, as well as works for piano with chamber ensemble accompaniment, including Les roses d’hiver. Quadrille de contredanses Op. 2. Stanislaw Kątski’s works were published mainly in Paris and also in Berlin.
