Kaszczeński, Kaszczenski Sebastian Antoni, †after 1720 Kraków (?), Polish vocalist, priest, scribe, and organist. In the 1690s (at least from 1693 to 1701 at the latest), he was a cantor in Imbramowice near Kraków; in 1701–03, he was recorded in the books of the parish of St. Margaret in Raciborowice as a parish organist. In 1703, after receiving the first tonsure and four minor priestly orders, he became a vicar in Kraków Cathedral. On 8 March 1704, he was ordained a subdeacon, on 20 September 1704 a deacon, and on 25 July 1705 a presbyter. From 1707, he was a member of the vocal group of Angelists. In 1711, he became vicar of the cathedral, and in an unknown year, also cantor of the cathedral school. He also maintained contact with the Jesuit chapel, but the version that he was its member in 1713 is incorrect (at that time, he entered his brother into the Jesuit music boarding school). Due to numerous shortcomings, he was removed from the group of vicars in 1720 and then deprived of other functions. At that time, he became a vicar and cantor in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kraków. According to A. Chybiński, the last information about him comes from 1726, but the currently preserved sources do not confirm this information. Kaszczeński had a large collection of manuscripts of vocal and instrumental compositions, mostly by contemporary Polish authors (including Szarzyński, Charśnicki, and Podolski); 30 of these pieces have been preserved in manuscript BJ 5272; for some time, Kaszczeński was considered their author. The preserved musical materials are dated to 1690–1710.
