Biography

Kamiński Józef, *17 November 1903 Odessa, †14 October 1972 Tel Aviv, Israeli violinist and composer, son of actress Ester Rachel Kamińska. He studied music in Warsaw, Berlin and Vienna. Initially, he worked in Warsaw as concertmaster of the Polish Radio Orchestra and the first violinist in the Warsaw String Quartet he founded (J. Kamiński, M. Tursch, J. Gornowski, M. Neuteich). From 1935, he lived in Tel Aviv; in 1937, at the invitation of B. Huberman, he became concertmaster of the Palestine Orchestra (currently Israel Philharmonie Orchestra). He remained in this band until 1969.
