Fuentes Juan Bautista, *16 March 1869 Guadalajara (Jalisco), †11 February 1955 León (Guanajuato), Mexican composer and music theorist. He studied in Mexico City, where he subsequently worked as a music teacher at various institutions. His oeuvre is dominated by piano pieces in the salon style; among his orchestral works, the Sinfonía Mexicana is of the greatest significance. Fuentes also published a number of theoretical works, including: Teoria de la música (1899), Tratado de intervalos y transposición (1909), and Método de armonía (1920).
