Fierszewicz, Virsiwitz, Virsiviz, Daniel, Polish composer and singer, †ca. 1702 Warsaw. Before 1670, he was a member of the ensemble of angelists and of the cathedral chapel at Wawel, in 1670 or 1671(?), he succeeded B. Pękiel as bandmaster of the cathedral chapel. In July 1681, he resigned from this position, but remained a member of the band, from which he then moved, probably before 1697, to the royal ensemble as a singer (tenor). During the reign of Augustus II, he belonged to his musical ensemble, the so-called Polish band, which was permanently based in Warsaw. Currently, two works by Fierszewicz are known, preserved incompletely in the Wawel collections: O salutaris hostia (with the text Gaude Mater Polonia added later) and the 4-voice Adoro Te devote.
