Biography

Drabik Stanisław, *9 September 1900 Krakow, †20 January 1971 Krakow, Polish tenor singer and opera director. He made his debut in 1919 in Poznań.

In the years 1931–39 he was the first tenor of the opera in Belgrade; he also appeared as a guest in Zagreb, Vienna, Budapest, Czechoslovakia, and on all opera stages in Poland. After studies in Milan, he also worked as an opera director. He was the organizer of the State Opera in Wrocław (8 September 1945 – premiere of Moniuszko’s Halka); there, in the years 1945–47, he was its director, and in 1951–52 artistic director. He founded the Workers’ Opera in Wrocław (1947) and in the Krakow Cultural House (1953).
