Biography

Cyrbes Władysław, *1851 Czudec (near Rzeszów), †9 September 1917 Przemyśl, Polish pianist, teacher and composer. He studied piano in Krakow under K. Hofman; in 1873 he left for Munich, where he studied at the conservatoire under Bergmann (piano) and J. Rheinberger (music theory). On his return to Poland, he worked as a teacher at the Jesuit school in Tarnopol, and subsequently at the Music Society in Rzeszów; in 1896, together with his wife Wanda (née Wostrowska), a pianist, he founded a music school at the Music Society in Przemyśl which he was director of from 1901.
