Cole Natalie, *6 February 1950 Los Angeles, †31 December 2015 Los Angeles, American singer, daughter of Nat „King” Cole. She began singing as an amateur at the age of 11; she was a member of the jazz band Malibu Music Man. In 1975, she made her debut with the album Inseparable, from which the song This Will Be won two Grammy Awards (1976). Initially, she performed a soul and rhythm and blues repertoire, written for her by Ch. Jackson and M. Yancey. She then released the hits Mr. Melody (1976), I’ve Got Love on My Mind (1977), Our Love (1978) and Someone That I Used to Love (1980), taken from the albums: Natalie (1976), Unpredictable (1977), Natalie… Live! (1978), I Love You So (1979) and Don’t Look Back (1980). After Cole parted ways with her previous production company (1983), her recordings failed to achieve success. This run of bad luck was broken by the album Everlasting (1987). The following songs reached the US charts: Jump Start (1987), I Live for Your Love (1987), Pink Cadillac (1988), When I Fall in Love (1988) and Miss You Like Crazy (1989). In the 1990s, Cole began performing jazz-pop. In 1991, she released a collection of her own interpretations of her father’s jazz standards (Unforgettable with Love). The album and the duet Unforgettable from it were awarded no fewer than seven Grammy Awards (1992). Subsequent albums cemented Cole’s position as a jazz vocalist: Take a Look (1993), Holly and Ivy (1994), Stardust (1996), Snowfall on the Sahara (1999) and The Magic of Christmas (1999) (recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra). Furthermore, in 1990 the singer hosted her own television programme, Big Break; in 1993 she appeared in the television series I’ll Fly Away; and in 1995 in the feature film Lily in Winter. In the year 2000 she toured Poland.
