Cesari, Hieronimus (EN)

Biography and literature

Cesari, Caesarius, Czesary, Cesary, Cesarini, Hieronimus, †between 1669 and 1676, musician, probably an instrumentalist. Son of Hieronim and Elżbieta Alantówna from Lviv. Employed in the royal chapel in Warsaw before 1620, he continued to work there after 1664, with a break of several years from around 1649 to around 1655, when he belonged to the chapel of Prince Karol Ferdynand. In the royal chapel he was probably initially a discant singer, later an instrumentalist (specialisation unknown). In 1648 or 1649 Cesari received citizenship of the Old Town of Warsaw. M. Scacchi included his three-voice canon with obligo in Cribrum musicum (1643).
