Barth Richard, *5 June 1850 in Grosswanzleben (Saxony), †25 December 1923 in Marburg (Hesse), German conductor and violinist. A student of J. Joachim, initially concertmaster of the orchestra in Münster, and from 1882 in Krefeld, then music director of the University of Marburg: from 1895 to 1904 conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra and Singakademie in Hamburg, from 1908 director of the conservatory there. In 1904, he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Marburg.
