Biography

Banaszak Hanna, *24 April 1957 Poznań, Polish jazz vocalist and singer. She made her debut in 1976 at the Polish Song Festival in Opole at the “Young Talents” concert. In 1977–79, she performed with the traditional jazz band Sami Swoi. In 1977, she won the third prize in the jazz vocalists’ competition in Lublin. She cooperated with, among others, Z. Górny’s orchestra, J. Wasowski and J. Przybora, J. Kofta, W. Młynarski, J.K. Pawluśkiewicz. In 1986, she won the main prize at the Knokke Song Festival (Belgium). In 1986–94, she performed in a duet with guitarist J. Strobel. Banaszak’s repertoire includes jazz standards, songs from the interwar period, atmospheric ballads, and samba and bossa nova songs. The artist has a lyrical voice with a warm, sensual tone. Her best-known hits include: Mam ochotę na chwileczkę zapomnienia, Samba w południe, W moim magicznym domu.
