Adamska Zofia, *9 December 1903 Krakow, †12 January 1988 Warsaw, Polish cellist and teacher. She started learning to play the cello in 1914 in Samar (now: Kuybyshev), and from 1918, he continued at the F. Chopin Music School in Warsaw and then at the Conservatory in Warsaw with E. Kochański. In 1923–29, she studied at the Conservatoire Royal de Musique in Brussels with G. Pitsch, obtaining a cello diploma in 1925 and a chamber musician diploma and a virtuoso cellist diploma in 1929 (gold medal). In 1929, she won the first prize at the H. van Cutsema Competition. From then on, she performed as a soloist, recorded for Polish Radio, and was a member of the Polish Quartet in Warsaw, in 1934–39, she was a concertmistress of the Polish Radio symphony orchestra. During the war, she stayed in Warsaw, performing at secret concerts and giving private cello lessons. In 1945, she started working at the Warsaw Polish Radio station, in 1945–49, she was a concertmistress of the Philharmonic Orchestra in Krakow; she performed as a soloist and played in the Krakow Quartet, which she co-founded (1945) with her husband, S. Tawroszewicz. In 1952–64, she taught cello at PWSM in Krakow, and in 1962–73 at PWSM in Warsaw (from 1963 as an assistant professor). She gave concerts in many European countries, as well as in Korea, and made numerous radio recordings. Adamska’s repertoire includes works from the 17th century to the 20th century. In 1973 he received the 2nd degree award of the Ministry of Culture and Science.
