Biography

Eldering Bram, *8 July 1865 Groningen, †17 June 1943 Cologne, Dutch violinist. He studied under J. Hubay in Brussels and under J. Joachim in Berlin. In 1887–88 he performed as a soloist and chamber musician (a member of J. Hubay’s quartet) in Budapest; from 1891 to 1894 he was Konzertmeister of the Berlin Philharmonic, and from 1894 to 1903 in Meiningen. From 1903 to 1934, he worked in Cologne as Konzertmeister of the Gürzenich Orchestra and as director and first violin player of the Gürzenich Quartet. Eldering was a highly regarded teacher; his pupils were, among others, A. Busch.
