Developing the PBM: A Musical Journey Across the Map!

In our series dedicated to upcoming features in the Polish Music Library, it is time to introduce a module that will truly transform the way you explore music history. Although we have already mentioned the interactive map before, today we would like to give you a closer look at how this feature will enhance your experience with our portal.
Have you ever wondered where your favourite works were created, or in which corners of the world great Polish composers performed? Instead of searching through hundreds of records in a traditional list view, you will soon be able to discover all this directly on an interactive world map!
What’s New in the Ikonoteka Module?
The new cartographic layer is not just an aesthetic addition. First and foremost, it serves as a modern tool to navigate our resources. Here’s what we are preparing for you:
-
Visual exploration of resources – a map of Polish, European (and other) cities will become the backdrop for our digital treasures.
-
The geography of music at your fingertips – thanks to metadata integrated into the map, you will be able to discover locations connected to composers’ travels, important historical events, and much more.
-
The choice is yours – decide how you want to browse search results: through a classic list or an interactive globe. With just one click, you can change your perspective!
Why a Map?
We know how rich the Ikonoteka collections are, and we want to make browsing through them both intuitive and enjoyable. The visual presentation of illustrations and photographs will make your journey through the digital world of music even more engaging and immersive.
Get ready for a grand tour! The interactive map is yet another step towards creating a modern, user-friendly and interactive digital library designed with our users in mind.
