Yet we have also found information in the calendar that International Tuba Day is celebrated on the first Friday in May. Because instruments play the first fiddle here, we have prepared some trivia.
Tuba in its present form was constructed at the beginning of the 19th century. The first composition for the symphonic orchestra that used this aerophone was Symphonie fantastique by Hector Berlioz from 1830. After this debut, the tuba became a part of an orchestra for good, and functions as a melodic and rhythmic instrument. What’s interesting – this largest of the aerophones has been promoted to the role of a solo instrument in contemporary music. In our collections, you may find, among others
