The instrument of the month for November is the saxophone – a woodwind instrument from the group of reed aerophones. There are nine varieties of the saxophone – the smallest of them is the soprillo, and the largest is the subcontrabass saxophone. Known since the mid-19th century, at its beginnings, it was used in the army and military orchestras due to its loud sound. Currently associated mainly with jazz, but is also used in classical and popular music.
