Sounds of the magic flute, which has become a new instrument of the month, are recommended for July evenings.
The flute is one of the oldest musical instrument, modified over the years. In the 19th century, Theobald Böhm perfected the transverse flute to such an extent that it became part of the symphony orchestra.
Both the recorder and the transverse flute belong to the group of woodwind instruments, even though the latter does not have any wooden element currently (not even a mouthpiece). It is made of metal, mostly silver, yet some transverse flutes are made of gold or platinum. The recorder is not as demanding – it’s made of wood or plastic.
If you feel like getting acquainted with this aerophone, we invite you to the Pictures for archival graphics and to the Scores for numerous works for the flute.
